“Mavis is in a late-career renaissance, coming back from a spell of depression and career malaise after Pop’s death. She has won two Grammys in the past five years, been subject of a documentary and a biography, and toured this past summer with Nobel laureate Bob Dylan, who happened to propose marriage to her in the early 1960s.
